Goal Line Inspections is a home inspection business that assists clients in understanding the condition and components of their home. By using top quality equipment and excellent observation skills we can help you save money on home systems by offering recommendations for areas that need attention. With this knowledge, you can be confident that your home will continue to provide the needed safety and comfort you and your family desire.
1. When did you get started in your business? How did you get into this business?
My wife and I began remodeling homes in 2000. I really enjoyed the process of looking at homes and investigating areas that may need repairs. Since crawling in crawlspaces and getting into attics is fun for me, I decided to get my Oregon Home Inspectors license so I can assist people looking to buy or evaluate a home.
2. What products or services do you provide to your customer?
At Goal Line Inspections, we investigate and report on a home’s components and systems, going beyond the minimum standards required by the State of Oregon. In addition to visually examining a house, we also use a moisture meter and infrared camera to identify troubled spots not visible to the naked eye.
Each inspection includes an easy-to-read report, with photos, detailing our observations and recommendations (and will soon be available in Mandarin). Plus we offer a complimentary green inspection upon request.
While many inspections occur prior to purchase we also inspect homes to help sellers move their homes more quickly. In addition, move-in and move-out inspections are designed to assist landlords who want an accurate record of their properties condition.
Our services don’t end with the inspection report. We follow-up afterwards in case there are any questions after the initial inspection. This allows you to feel confident that all issues pertaining to your property will be thoroughly understood.
3. What do you find most challenging about the work you do?
Home building and home equipment is constantly changing and improving. It is challenging to keep updated on new developments but also why we continually take classes and exceed the minimum state requirements of 16 hours of home inspector training.
4. How does your business differentiate itself from the competition?
My belief is that the home inspection does not end once we get paid. We make it very clear to our customers that they can contact us with further questions should they arise. Since there is a lot of information to digest in an inspection report, we follow-up with our clients within several weeks to make sure there is nothing further they need assistance with.
5. Why does your firm have loyal customers?
Quality inspections combined with excellent customer service.
"Doug of Goal Line Inspections provided us with a comprehensive assessment of the condition of our house. He was very professional and the summary report was clear and easy to understand. He took the time to follow up and help us understand the few things that need attention. I would heartily recommend him to others." - Susie Sirovatka, Aloah
6. What trends are you seeing in your industry?
Advancing technology in areas such as home heating and energy savings (how “green” is the home) are on the fore front of people’s minds. That is why I offer services and recommendations to assist people as they seek to save money and protect the environment.
7. What are some of the most important lessons you've learned in this line of work?
Each client has her/his own level of comfort when explaining potential deficiencies in a home. We strive to give people a realistic picture of the state of the home while guiding them in various means to address issues that may be of concern. |
